Hackney Council has rejected plans for a new late-night venue on the site of former nightclub Cargo over fears it would lead to a "spike in crime."

According to The Standard, Khan's solicitors had insisted the 500-capacity venue "would not be a nightclub" and the Met's comments were "defamatory."

The Met claimed that since Cargo had closed, crime has "significantly" reduced in Shoreditch.

I visited Hopkins at his studio in Hackney to talk about the album, his favorite instruments and software, and the ways he uses Ableton Live.

I'm never really trying to make it that way, but that's just how the ideas come, and they sound right.

I think that's quite fun, to be honest.

The top end’s getting a bit wonky, and my piano tuner said there’s not really much you can do about that.

We called them portals, because that’s kind of how they operate in the album.

In public settings there's this tension between who belongs and who doesn’t belong,” says artist-researcher Henrique J. Paris, who assembled these pictures as part of his installation Padrões da Polifonia.

J. Paris’ six mugshots are of producers DJ Danifox, XEXA, DJ ADAMM, DJ Dadifox, DJ Narciso and DJ Nuno Beats.

Underneath the folders, strings and beads spill out like roots: this is J. Paris’ batida family tree.

“There’s this huge disconnection between how batida’s been titled and how it’s been referenced in popular culture,” states J. Paris who was partly inspired to create his installation because of batida’s misrepresentation.

“There’s so many possibilities,” smiles J. Paris.

You can tell Alan Sparhawk means it when he sings 'I Made This Beat' on his new album White Roses, My God.

Sparhawk is best known for fronting Low alongside his wife, the late Mimi Parker, since the couple were young newlyweds in their native Duluth, Minnesota.

But they never went as far as Sparhawk does on this new record, especially in terms of the voice treatment.

"When I was first starting to do these tracks, it was really casual," Sparhawk reveals.

The voice pedal was one part of the musical alchemy which took place when Sparhawk started to head in this new direction.

I've never explained exactly what is happening in my tiny setup, that changes today. I'll walk you through my setup and show you why I've been loving making music with it! The TL:DR is I have something constantly recording as a "just in case." This is thanks to the SkipBack feature on the SP-404MKII. Хороший пост Сергея Мезенова о том, можно ли картировать музыкальный ландшафт, и почему это до сих пор никому не удалось. Много думаю об этом, но никак не успеваю зафиксировать мысли. Если коротко, мне кажется, объять музыкальный ландшафт невозможно: он стремительно превращается в бесконечность даже применительно к локальным сценам. Порог входа в музыку падает, а сама она обесценивается. Поэтому проблемы количества в музыке, мне кажется, вообще нет: оно продолжает расти в геометрической прогрессии, правда, во все более бюджетных вариантах. Соответственно, мне кажется, рекомендации, равно как и мнения, теряют актуальность, потому что уже ни на что не влияют. «Картирование», а вернее сегменти…

​Scott Henderson «Karnevel!» (Self-released, 2024) Удивительно, что новый альбом Скотта Хендерсона остался практически незамеченным. Речь не только о медиа. Кажется, даже преданные поклонники гитариста могли упустить «Karnevel!» из виду. Меж тем пластинка абсолютно блестящая. Здесь всё как мы любим: дикий дизайн обложки, композиция с названием «Вакцинация» (между прочим, ироничное подмигивание песне «Soul Vaccination» группы Tower of Power) и тот самый фьюжн, которого больше нет. Главное — редкое ощущение, что музыка создается и меняется каждую секунду. Собственно, практически все композиции «Karnevel!» были записаны в ходе импровизаций в режиме реального времени.
