Fatima Al Qadiri has announced 3TWI (عتوي), a new EP arriving October 9, via Hyperdub.

The title translates as “dirty old man,” press materials note; a single, “7ilween”—loose translation: “pretty young things”—is out now.

Two of the EP’s four songs feature Bobo Secret and Lama3an; on the other two, Al Qadiri’s Kuwali vocalist Gumar, the namesake of her 2023 EP, guests.

Al Qadiri’s last standalone album was Medieval Femme; since then, the Kuwaiti musician/producer has released several film soundtracks, including one last year for François Ozon’s L’Étranger.

Suno has admitted to using music from YouTube to train its AI models.

The AI music creation firm is currently battling a lawsuit brought forth by Universal Music Group (UMG), Sony Music, and Capitol Records concerning its allegedly unauthorised use of licensed music for training its models.

Synth history could have been different, if the FBT Synther 2000 became a hit when it was released in 1973. This filter-less three oscillator monster from Italy sounds unabashedly electronic. In no way does it imitate acoustic instruments, but it drones deeply and has a massive bass. Truly unique, and very rare, it is an interesting artifact in synth history. The Milton Gemichord 961 has kept me spellbound ever since I first played it at Museo Del Synth Marchigiano in 2021. It's a string/piano/brass/bass synth like many Italian keyboards of the time. But it sounds elegant and dramatic, also thanks to its "liturgic" section. It is utter unobtanium, with only three known to still exist.
